Public Lands Issues Summit!

I want to make sure that you are aware of the summit we are planning next month regarding public lands issues and to request that you spread this information to your members.
As I am sure you are aware, the West is on edge right now over public lands management. A few enterprising individuals are travelling around teaching classes about what rights grazers have, what authority local governments have in relation to federal agencies, and constitutional principles that should govern the rangelands of the West. Unfortunately, most of them are wrong about the law, and even the facts. When public lands users are basing their arguments on incorrect information, they will lose every time.
As a response to the information that is spreading, a group of ranchers and county commissioners decided that we needed to start getting correct information in front of the local elected leaders and range users. The result, so far, is a summit next month in Las Vegas with an all-star lineup of presenters. Our goals are to inform about the laws that govern public lands and to put useful tools in the hands of local elected officials and range users so that they can influence policy.
The website can be found at: www.publiclandsummit.com
I would like to invite you to attend and also to share this link with others who are interested in public lands policy.
If you have any questions, please call me. (435)590-1395
Thank you,
Celeste Maloy
Deputy Washington County Attorney
