HOW WE STARTED RAISING NATURAL LAMB

The MTH Farm Story

MTH Farm Natural Lamb

Shortly after our son Bryan was born in 1976, the Doctors found out he was allergic to all color dyes, hormones and preservatives found in commercial meats.

As a teenager in 4-H, I raised and showed sheep. We were currently living in a small town in Pennsylvania on three quarters of an acre. The only meat producing animal (other than chickens) that fit were Sheep. I started with a flock of five ewes that produced, on average, ten lambs per year.

We would have friends over for dinner, most of who had never had Lamb or stated they hated Lamb. After eating our Lamb, they started asking me to raise them a lamb. This was the beginning of MTH Farm.

When we moved to Colorado and purchased our current farm, I again started raising natural lamb. We currently maintain between thirty and fifty ewes and two rams.

Our current flock consists of cross-bred ewes bred to a purebred Targhee Ram.
